Selective Call Forwarding

With regular Call Forwardingall calls get forwarded. With Selective Call Forwarding, only calls from numbers that you choose are forwarded.

How to use Selective Call Forwarding

Depending where you live, you can set up a list of 12 to 15 numbers you want to have forwarded to a different phone. When someone calls from a number on your list, you'll hear a short ring, and the call will be forwarded. 


You can't answer incoming calls from forwarded numbers. (They're transferred before you can pick up the phone.) If you decide you no longer want a certain number forwarded, you will need to delete the number from your forward list or turn Selective Call Forwarding OFF.


Incoming calls that aren't on your list will ring through to your home phone and can be answered. You can continue to make outgoing calls as you always do. 
 

The number receiving your forwarded calls will ring normally.
 

If you forward calls to a long distance or toll number, you'll be charged any applicable rates.

Turn Selective Call Forwarding on and off

You can turn this feature on or off and change your phone number list any time you want.

Turn on Selective Call Forwarding:

  1. Listen for the dial tone, and press *63.
  2. Create your list by entering the 10-digit number(s) you want to forward.
  3. Dial the number where you want your calls forwarded. 


Turn it off:

  1. Dial *63 (or, in some locations, dial *83 instead)
  2. Follow the prompts to turn off Selective Call Forwarding

Troubleshoot Selective Call Forwarding

Try these tips if you're having trouble getting Selective Call Forwarding to work:

  • Confirm that it's turned on by dialing *63. You'll hear a fast busy tone if it's active, and a normal dial tone if it's off. 

  • You cannot forward calls to hotels, motels, pay phones or prisons.

  • You can forward calls to long distance numbers only if you have long distance service.

  • If you have both Call Waiting and Selective Call Forwarding, your call will be forwarded before Call Waiting can alert you to it.

  • If your number is listed as PRIVATE or ANONYMOUS, you will need to unblock your number by pressing *82 before forwarding calls to a phone number with Anonymous Call Rejection.

  • If you receive a busy signal when you try to use Selective Call Forwarding, you may need to change your phone's settings and double check that you're using the feature correctly. 

  • Make sure your phone is set to TONE, not PULSE. Many phones have a physical P/T switch located on the side, bottom or back of the unit. If you don't see a physical switch, go into the phone's setup menu and look for the P/T settings.

  • If you are unable to make outgoing calls when Selective Call Forwarding is active, there's a problem with the service, and you need to contact us.
