Making partial payments and using multiple payment sources

You're welcome to make partial bill payments onlineby phoneby mail or in person. As long as the full amount owed is paid by your bill due date, your account will remain in good standing.

You can also split up your bill payment across multiple payment sources, if that is what works best for you.

How partial payments are applied to your account

State Public Utility Commissions (PUC) have established very specific rules as to how a partial payment must be applied. Their intent is to protect regulated services, such as your home phone. As a result, in most states, undesignated partial payments are applied to the phone portion of your bill until that portion is paid in full. Any remaining money is paid proportionately to all the other charges on the account. This is called a "pro-rata" allocation.

You have the right to override the state allocation rules and divide your payment however you wish. Simply contact us if you would like your payments applied differently.

Using multiple payment sources to make payments

If you'd like to pay your bill using more than one payment source, you certainly can. You'll just need to make each payment individually. Simply enter the amount you want to pay with your first payment source and complete that transaction. Then repeat the process using the second payment source. You can make as many payments as needed.

There's really only one limitation. We can't accept multiple payments of the same amount from the same payment source on the same day. This is for your security, and also to ensure customers don't accidentally pay us twice. You can make payments of:

  • Different amounts with the same payment source on the same day
  • Same amount using different payment sources on the same day
  • Same amount from the same source but on different days
